Replacing The Traditional Guest Book

With all the excitement and planning that goes into the wedding, and having asked the people who are most important in your lives to celebrate the joyous occasion, you want to know who shared it all.

Both bride and groom have eyes only for each other and the beauty of their ceremony and reception, and they will vaguely remember Aunt This One and Uncle That One being there. With reception lines being a thing of the past, the way married couples record who came is the guest book.

But, as everything else that has changed and varied, so has the tradition of the simple guest book. There are once again many different ways of recording your guests’ appearance. So hold onto your plumed pens and gilded pages and picture this.

Mat an 11×17 photograph of the happy couple in a silver or gold frame with no glass. Place framed picture on an attractive easel with a beautiful pen, and appoint a trusted friend to instruct the guests to sign the matted portion of the edges around the photograph.

If a picture of yourselves is not your thing, then there is the video alternative. Have a knowledgeable individual politely ask your guests to give a brief congratulatory footnote for the bride and groom, making sure that they know to include who they are. This will be a collection of happy memories for years to come.

If you still have a traditional spirit, you can always do the podium and guest book at the entrance of the sanctuary. Whichever way you choose, make sure that it is fun, and that you have something to remind you of those wonderful loved ones who shared that most special day of your lives.
