Wedding Favors

It is custom that the bride and groom give out wedding favors to all of the guests that have attended both the wedding and the reception. This tradition can be traced back to the ancient European time period. It was common in that time for the wealthy aristocrats to give their guests gifts as a thank you for their attendance. These gifts were usually expensive and made out of silver, gold, and precious gems.

Today this tradition is still in effect though we try not to spend a fortune on them. Offering your wedding guests a favor is to show your respect for them and as a token of friendship and appreciation.

Knowing that you are going to give out wedding favors is easy - but trying to decide exactly what to give them can be tricky. You want to make sure that you give them something that goes along with the theme of the reception. Many people will use picture frames, candles, seed packets, and even bookmarks. Try to find something that everyone would love to have.

For example I went to a wedding there the wedding favors were two hershey kisses placed in a spoon and then wrapped in tool with a ribbon closing it. It was simple - but it was also pretty and went well with the theme of the reception. This idea was also easy to make and relatively inexpensive.

It is customary to place the wedding favors on each of the tables that guests will be eating at. Make sure that you have more favors than people.
